The band’s main purpose is to perform in Queensland’s Correctional Centres
The band works closely with the State Government’s Queensland Correctional Services Department to achieve this.
Old Boys Gospel Band supports the efforts of the prison Chaplains and seeks to assist them in their Christian Service to the inmates.
We believe we are bringing and singing a message of truth and hope to men and women who just like us, need to be rescued, refreshed and restored.
The band plays a mix of both gospel and mainstream music chosen to encourage the listener to consider and then explore positive life changing options.
OBGB began performing to both Men’s and Women’s high security and residential inmates at Correctional Centres in November ’07. There have been numerous concerts “inside” since then and several more concerts are in the planning stages, including visits to lower security prison farms, for 2009.
The Old Boys Gospel Band also accepts invitations from Churches around South-East Queensland. They are equipped and experienced in conducting an entire church service if requested. This can include a ‘prison style performance’ from the Band, and the programme may include testimonials from ex-inmates and an informative segment by a Prison Chaplain or Volunteer Workers.
